

Eleanor Allen Goggins, age 90, passed away April 29, 2017. She had a strong faith in God and was a longtime member of Siluria Baptist Church. She was devoted to her family and loved to share stories of the good old days and her travels around the country. She grew up in Marvel, Alabama, and graduated from Montevallo High School. She was a devoted wife to Monroe Goggins and together they owned and operated Siluria Drive-In Cleaners and Laundry for 30 years. After selling the business she worked in the Thompson Elementary School cafeteria where she knew hundreds of students by their first names. She received the 50-year pin from the Order of the Eastern Star and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid supporter of Boy Scout Troop 548 where she attended numerous troop ceremonies when her health allowed. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, Dollie Allen and Minnie Pearl Boothe, by her husband, Monroe D. Goggins, by her sister, Juanita Smitherman Ethridge, and by her brother, Paul Allen. She is survived by her sons, Danny (Jo) Goggins and David (Becky) Goggins of Alabaster and her daughter, Dian (Sam) George of Lineville, 6 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 4 step great-grandchildren, sisters, Ruth Prescott, and Jean Bearden, brother, Jack Allen, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She had a special relationship with many of the staff members at Columbiana Health and Rehab. They are indeed special people, and their kindnesses will forever be remembered. Her visitation and funeral will both be held at Rockco Funeral Home in Montevallo, Alabama. Her visitation will be Monday, May 1, 2017 from 6-8 PM. Her funeral will be Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 2:00. Burial will follow at Ryan Cemetery in Maylene.
