Born September 16, 1956 in Alabaster, Alabama to Frank Roscoe Griffin and Martha Owen Parsons, Alan was known to all as a warmhearted soul with a killer sense of humor. Alan was the epitome of a jack-of-all-trades. He knew how to drive an 18-wheeler, fix a car, fly a plane, shoot a gun, fly-fish, give financial advice, cook divine chili, raise a child, ride a tractor, build a house, manage a business, grill a steak, tie a tie, and he never hesitated to carry out any of these tasks without cracking a joke or two along the way. Throughout his life, Alan cycled through many careers. He was a mechanic who repaired automobiles and flipped them for profit, he was a pilot who flew people where they needed to go, he was a truck-driver who traveled all over the United States, he was police officer who protected and served the community, and he was the owner of an apartment complex. No matter what Alan was doing at the time, one quality of him always remained consistent: his constant love and support for those he loved. Alan flourished when he could be a supportive husband, an affectionate father, a loving son or a generous friend.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Roscoe Griffin and Martha Owen Parsons. He is survived by his wife, Susan Griffin of Helena, Alabama; his four daughters, Brandy Garrison of Double Springs, Alabama, Belle and Savannah Griffin of Helena, Alabama, Erin Griffin of Orlando, Florida; his son, Owen Griffin (Lily Li) of Birmingham, Alabama; his grandson, Jaxson Garrison; and brothers Danny and John Griffin of Helena, Alabama.
A celebration of life service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Saturday, August 11 at Rockco Funeral Home, 3715 AL-25, Montevallo, Alabama 35115.
