Henry "Wayne" Brantley, age 75, of Montevallo, Alabama, passed away on June 22, 2026. Born on April 2, 1951, in Chilton County, Wayne was the youngest of five siblings and the son of Chester and Lessie Brantley. He attended Jemison High School, and from his earliest years carried himself with a steady sincerity that would remain a hallmark throughout his life.
Wayne spent many years working as an electrician, known for the kind of dependable effort that speaks quietly but leaves a lasting mark. In February of 1988, he opened Wayne Brantley Electric, building his work through diligence, straightforward dealing, and a commitment to doing things the right way. He retired in 2012, leaving behind not only a business, but a reputation shaped by honest labor and a willingness to serve others without seeking recognition.
Wayne was married to his wife, Peggy, and together they built a family anchored in devotion and care. He was a father to three children: Destry, Deidra, and Scotty. In the everyday moments of family life, Wayne's generosity and selfless spirit were evident—expressed in the ways he showed up, provided, and gave of himself with constancy.
A man who appreciated simple pleasures and the beauty of the outdoors, Wayne enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, and time spent outside. He also loved music, finding in it a familiar comfort and a soundtrack well-suited to a life lived with humility and steadiness.
Wayne was a member of The Church at Brierfield in Brierfield, Alabama, where his faith and quiet integrity were part of the life he lived and the example he set.
Wayne is survived by his son, Destry Brantley (Heather); his grandson, Fletcher Brantley; and his granddaughter, Marissa Marquess (Glynn); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Lessie Brantley; his wife, Peggy Smitherman Brantley; his daughter, Deidra Brantley; his son, Scotty Brantley; and his siblings, Joyce Hayes, Ellen Scott, Shirley Blackerby, and Dan Brantley.
Wayne will be remembered for a life defined by devotion, hard work, and a generous, selfless heart—offered freely, lived faithfully, and carried with enduring honesty.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026 from 10am - 12pm at Shady Grove Baptist Church, 113 Shady Grove Loop, Randolph, Alabama 36792 (located of AL HWY 139). A graveside service to follow at Shady Grove Baptist Cemetery. Pastor Joe Clark officiating.
