James Larry “Pops” Bailey, age 71, of Montevallo, left this world on November 4, 2016. He was born in Bessemer to Robert and Vivian Bailey. He graduated from Hueytown High School and was drafted into the US Marines to serve in Vietnam. He was a carpenter and a dairy farmer. Pops loved horses and playing the guitar. He was honest to a fault and always lived life on his terms.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Bailey. He is survived by his son, Robert Shonn Bailey; daughter, Shona Bailey (David Sonier); grandchildren, Shyanne Bailey, Autumn Bailey, Sierra Rodriguez (Javy Gaddis), Steven Rodriguez and Justin Sonier; great-granddaughter, Sophia “Butter” Gaddis and one on the way, Isabella “Bella” Gaddis; siblings, Arnold, Ottie Lue, Frank and Margaret; and beloved brother-in-law and best friend, Donald Hilburn.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 from 6-8PM at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo). A graveside service will be at 1PM on Wednesday, November 9 at Valley Creek Cemetery in Hueytown.
