James H. Brown Jr.

James H. Brown Jr., age 83, of Calera, Alabama passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023. He was born in California and lived in many states over the course of his life. Jim was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Calera. He spent his career as a mechanical engineer for several large companies, retiring from International Paper in Thorsby, Alabama. Jim enjoyed square and round dancing with his wife as well as riding their tandem bicycle together. He will be missed even if he did get grumpy sometimes.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Sheri Brown; parents, James H. Brown and Alta Jeanne Chaney Brown; step-father, Henry Wells; and his son, James H. Brown III. He is survived by his sons, Russell Brown (Joni) and Shawn Brown (April); grandchildren, James H. Brown IV (Samantha), Jessica Meemken (Chris), Justin Jordan (Emily), Laura Jordan, Alyssa Brown, Ethan Brown and Ansley Brown; great-grandchildren, William Brown, Joseph Brown and Haley Meemken; great-great-granddaughter, Lily-Rose Ann Brown; sister, Jan Bolen (Tim); and niece, Jennifer Bolen.

A visitation for James will be held Saturday, September 30, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Rockco Funeral Home, 3715 Highway 25, Montevallo, Alabama 35115, followed by a funeral service at 1:30 PM. Rev. John Fleischauer will officiate.

Jim will be laid to rest in Shelby Memory Gardens, 8586 Highway 25, Calera, Alabama 35040.
