James "Hubby" Hubbard Moreland

James "Hubby" Hubbard Moreland, age 78, of Montevallo, Alabama passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025. He spent his career as a Skitter Driver for Johnson Logging. He enjoyed fishing, watching Alabama football, and going to yard sales. He liked to drive into town for his barbeque sandwich and cup of ice at Exxon and then go feed the squirrels at Orr Park. He was stubborn as the day is long, and drank his coffee from sun up until sun down.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Moreland; parents, Reid and Edna Moreland; siblings, Wanda Jean McGraw, Charles E. "Curly" Moreland, Bobby Joe Moreland and John Hardy Moreland. Hubby is survived by his daughter, Sherry Vardaman (Billy); son, James "Bobo" Moreland (Tracy); grandchildren, Tommy Glass, Catrina Glass and Angela Glass (Devan); great-grandchildren, Urijah Hoggle, Hunter Hoggle, Kaleb Hoggle, Jenna Phillips, Gavin Phillips, Jaxson Burrow, and Madison Burrow; his sister, Dean Graves; sister-in-law, Darlene Moreland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo), 3715 Highway 25, Montevallo, AL 35115. The funeral service will occur Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo). Bro. Chris Parker will officiate. Hubby will be laid to rest at Ashby Cemetery, Aarker Road, Brierfield, AL 35085.
