James Franklin Munkus, age 80, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away on February 6, 2021. Son of Benjamin Jerome Munkus and Hazel Paralee Sellers Munkus, he was one of six children raised in Bluff Park on Shades Mountain. James was a member of Providence #1 Baptist Church. He was an excellent craftsman and produce grower. He had a unique mind for numbers and puzzles. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Margaret Akins and Shirley Rose Vincent; brothers, Bennie Eugene Munkus and Charles Edward Munkus. He is survived by his brother, Richard Munkus (Dorothy); numerous nieces and nephews; and favorite cousin, Jon Rey Sullivan (Pat). A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Providence #1 Cemetery in Montevallo. Rev. Allen Foster will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to The Gideons International.
