He was born Clarkton, Missouri and served (active duty) in the Navy from 1954 to 1957. Jim was an accountant and retired from Children’s Hospital.
Jim is survived by his children, Teresa Griswold (Bill), Cindy Dillard (Chip) and Jim Thorn (Darlene); grandchildren, Whitney Califf (Will), Taylor Dempsey (Ted), Walker Rayburn (Amy), Jack Rayburn (Charlotte), Noah Thorn and Jakob Thorn; and great-granddaughter, Evelyn James Rayburn.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ada Lou Thorn and his parents.
A visitation for Jim will be held Tuesday, June 28, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church of Montevallo, 861 Middle St, Montevallo, Alabama 35115. The funeral service will occur Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church of Montevallo with the burial following at 12:30 PM at Alabama National Cemetery, 3133 Highway 119, Montevallo, Alabama 35115.
