

Born on March 19,1945, Janet dedicated her life to serving others through her career and personal passions. Janet’s professional life was marked by her compassionate care as a registered nurse at TriValley Primary Care in Souderton, PA. Her commitment to healthcare extended beyond her professional duties, as she participated in 17 medical mission trips to Haiti, provided essential care and support to those in need. A 1966 graduate of Grandview Hospital School of Nursing, Janet’s educational background laid the foundation for her lifelong dedication to nursing and Christian service. She began her education at a one-room school, Center School, in New Holland, PA, then graduated from Christopher Dock Mennonite High School in 1963. Janet was a devoted member of Living Faith Fellowship in Souderton, PA. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her daily actions and her service to her church. In her personal time, Janet was an avid gardener and enjoyed caring for her many houseplants. She was also a skilled seamstress, most recently making t-shirt quilts for several of her grandchildren. Janet’s family was the center of her life.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, H. Terry Knechel, her children, Julie Kulp (Loren), Jeremy Westbrook (Melissa), Jared Knechel (Catherine), as well as her grandchildren, Erika Singletary (Kyle), Monica Jackson (Parker), Taylor (Shelby), Cassidy Westbrook, Max Knechel, and Leif Knechel, two great grandchildren, Theodore Kulp and Emery Singletary, with a third on the way in April, Adalyn Jackson; and sisters, Jo Ann Martin (Linford) and June Burkholder. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marlin Burkholder and Katie Stoltzfus Burkholder.
Janet’s legacy of kindness, compassion, and dedication to her family and community will be remembered by all who knew her. A memorial gathering for Janet will be announced as details are finalized.
