Jesse Collins Whitfield III

Jesse "J.C." Collins Whitfield III, age 74, of Helena, Alabama passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2020. J.C. was born May 21, 1946, to Collins and Viola Whitfield.

He attended Thompson High School and was very active in school activities for 52 years. J.C. worked for the City of Alabaster and was awarded the keys to the city. His passion in life was serving others and he was very active within his faith community. J.C. ministered to others by the way he lived his life. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

J.C. is survived by his wife, Karen Whitfield; son, Jerome Whitfield (Corla); daughters, Jo Ellen Whitfield, Kelli Acton (Lee), Lisa Hyde, Tracy McClellan, and Stephannie Hall (Jason); grandchildren, Chloe, Nathan, Sarah, Samuel, Avery, Kenzie, Hanz, Eian, Ryann, Samantha, Shelbie, Stephen, Tyler, and Kirstyn; great-grandchildren, Riley, Peyton, Oakley and Laine; and Aunt, Gin.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Don, Lynn, Glenn, and Benny; and sister, Gloria Jean.

A Celebration of Life for J.C. will be held Saturday, October 17, 2020, at 3:00 PM at Amazing Grace Worship Center, 949 US-31, Alabaster, AL 35007.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at for the Whitfield family.

Oh J.C. how I loved everything about your sweet soul. You made everyone around you smile and laugh and feel important. Our times in the
Food Ministry are embedded in my heart forever. You are in God's hands now....and I know you're at peace.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your beloved J. C. My friend Kelli Acton always referred to him as Poppy, so that's what I called him. She always had kind words about him...what a wonderful husband to her Mom, Poppy to her kids and friend and helper to everyone who knew him.
May GOD grant you strength, comfort and peace at this time of loss.
