John Timothy Birchfield

John Timothy Birchfield, 74, of Thorsby, Al., passed away Saturday, November 4, 2017. He dedicated his life to his family. He was an active member at Bible Believers Church in Thorsby, Al where he played rhythm guitar. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and attending their special events and spreading the word of Jesus Christ. He served 29 years, 5 months U.S. Army Active and Reserve Military Service. He received Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Vietnam) Sharpshooter. He was an M1 Armor Tank CRMN, M48-M60 CRMN, PERS SVC SGT and received Operation Desert Storm Service Medal. He was preceded in death by wife, Jane Birchfield; parents, John and Annie Birchfield; brother, Tommy Birchfield; and brother, Larry Birchfield. He is survived by his children, April Stewart (Dennis), Brian Birchfield (Dawn), Barbara Navarro (Jorge) and Sean McKinney (Naomi); sister, Barbara Haynie (Philip); 8 grandchildren; and 1 great grand child and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Rockco Funeral Home in Montevallo, Al. at 2:00, with visitation from 12-2:00. Burial will follow at Shelby Memorial Gardens.
