

John served our country with the United States Army. He was also a well-known member within the Alabaster community as he was the Fire Chief at the Alabaster Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Barclay.
John is survived by his wife, Carolyn Cochran; children, Katie Cochran, Michelle Jones Bonds (Craig), Terry Jones (Pat), J.T. Jones (David) and Adam Cochran; grandchildren, Dylan McNutt (Tiffany), Taylor McNutt Lucas (Donavan), Kelsy Jones Myrick (Dusty) and Savannah Bonds; great-grandchildren, Connor Evans, Casey Lucas, Walker Myrick, Ryleigh McNutt and Carson Lucas; and brother, Jim Cochran (Susan).
A visitation for John will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Alabaster, 903 3rd Ave NW, Alabaster, AL 35007. His funeral service will occur Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 12:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Alabaster with the burial following at 2:00 PM at Alabama National Cemetery, 3133 Highway 119, Montevallo, Alabama 35115.
Pallbearers will be Scotty Burkes, Greg Farrell, Andy Garrett, Glen Austin, Dan Hornkohl, Harold Mitchel, Robert Smeltcer, and Eddie Harris from the Alabaster Fire Department.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Alabaster Food Ministries or to the Joyful Stitchers, 903 3rd Ave NW Alabaster, AL 35007.
