John L McCartney

John L McCartney, age 69, of Montevallo, Alabama passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025. John was born June 12, 1955 to William and Cordelia McCartney in Siluria, Alabama where he was raised with 7 older siblings. As a young man John played baseball for his uncle's team. In 1981 John Married his soul mate Tina Wallace, and together they shared 43 years of bliss. John was a self taught man and spent his career as a steelworker. John loved camping. He and Tina spent many weekends at Paul Grist State Park, Prairie Creek, and Six Mile Creek Campgrounds. When they weren't camping, John could be found hunting, fishing, or watching Alabama Football. John was the kind of man to always lend a helping hand, and give the shirt off his back to a friend in need.

John is preceded in death by his Parents, William McCartney and Cordelia Newman McCartney; brothers, Frank McCartney, Earl McCartney, and Billy Wayne McCartney; and sister, Norma McCartney.

Left behind to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Tina McCartney; sister, Sandra Brewer; brothers, Owen McCartney and Henry McCartney; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A celebration of life will be held in John's honor on Saturday February 1, 2025 at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo), with visitation beginning and 5:00 pm and a service to follow at 6:00 pm.
