OBITUARY

John Ed Owens

July 20, 1954February 4, 2021

John Ed Owens, age 66, of Pelham, Alabama passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 4, 2021. John Ed was raised in Remlap and Oneonta by his father, Rodolphus "Red" Owens, and his grandmother, Cora Elrod. He relished his work as an auto mechanic for over 30 years. He loved to fish and watch Alabama football and cartoons. The highlight of his life was connecting with his long lost brother and daughter after searching for years. He was generous with his time and help. He was friendly and never met a stranger. He enjoyed living life in the moment but never achieved his dream of becoming a beach bum. John Ed was so happy when he lived out his dream of playing Santa Claus for his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Family was everything to him and he will be terribly missed. John Ed is survived by his wife, Frances Brasher Hill Owens; daughters, Donna Hill Thompson (William "Pal") and Michelle Owens Kendrick; grandchildren, Francesca "Frankie" Thompson, James "Jamey" Thompson (Elizabeth "Liz"), Skylar Caton Rockwell (Daniel) and Nick Warner; great-grandchildren, Scarlett Ann Rose, Kyndle Caton and Luca Rockwell; brothers, Kenneth Tolbert, Eugene Owens and Terry Hutcheson; sister, Phyllis Clopton; close family, Uncle Fate Tolbert (Ann) and Aunt Pauline Gilbert (Melvin); and numerous well-loved extended family members. His visitation is set for 12:30-2:00 pm Sunday, February 14, 2021 at Pelham Church of God with service immediately afterwards. The church has enough space to allow for social distancing. Burial will occur at Moores Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama.

My favorite memory is the night John found me. I owe being able to know my family to John. I only wish I've been able to meet him in person before the Lord took him home. I love you John, and I will miss you.
