

John Robin Swafford, age 77, of Alabaster, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025. He grew up in North Jefferson County. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. After returning home, he attended UAB. He retired from Pitney-Bowes after many years in service and sales of office equipment. Robin was a member of Helena Methodist Church. He loved his church and church family dearly. He coached and supported his daughters in softball from a young age and into college. In his free time, he loved Auburn football, fishing, hunting, reading and was an avid history buff.
More than anything, he loved to be surrounded by his family, grandkids, and friends. He will be deeply missed for his sense of humor and quick wit.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ida Mae Loftis Swafford and William Durwood Swafford; his brother, Alan Swafford; and his sister-in-law, Julie Bradley. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kathryn "Kathy" Swafford; his prized furbaby, Abigail Grace Swafford; son, Nathan Swafford (Fawn); daughters, Robyn "Brittany" Murphy (Brett) and Virginia "Ginny" Minor (Ashley); grandchildren, Owen Murphy, Ryder Murphy, Anna Collins Bailey and Ashlyn Minor; brother, Jerry Swafford (Barbara); brother-in-law, Foster "Key" Bradley III; nieces, Denise Dowling (Tommy) and Marianne Beard (Brent); nephews, Craig Swafford and Foster "Chip" Bradley IV (Mallory); several great-nieces and great-nephews; and numerous friends.
A visitation for Robin will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Helena Methodist Church, 2035 County Road 58, Helena, Alabama 35080, followed by a celebration of life at 11:00 AM. He will be laid to rest in a private service at Alabama National Cemetery.
