Joyce Marie Blackmon Hall, age 91, of Montevallo, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Her departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew her, but her legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire generations.
Born in Chilton County, Alabama, to John Wesley and Lennie Blackmon, Joyce was a beacon of warmth and compassion from an early age. On January 20, 1951, she married her sweetheart, Earnest Lee Hall, and together they built a life filled with love and devotion. Joyce was a devoted mother and Nanny, nurturing her four children: Lori Ann Hall Stansell, Donna Lynne Hall Summers, Andrea Dawn Hall Brantley (Joey), and Stephanie Michelle Hall Brannaker (Joseph) with a fierce love that will forever be cherished.
Joyce's impact extended far beyond her immediate family. As a teacher at Calera Christian School and a long-time Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher at Aldrich First Baptist Church, where she was the oldest member, she touched the lives of countless children. Her passion for caring for others was evident in her community outreach efforts, from organizing yard sales, car washes and hot dog sales to making fruit baskets for shut-ins and nursing homes. Joyce never turned away a child in need, offering her attention, food, clothes, and love to all who crossed her path.
Her dedication to her faith was unwavering, and she always credited her strength to the Lord. While Joyce was known for her strict teaching style and upbringing, it was her loving and caring nature that truly defined her. Many who were fortunate enough to be taught by her still fondly remember her lessons from 50 to 60 years ago.
Joyce is survived by her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren: David Lee Martin (Alisha), Kenneth Lee McCutcheon (Jordan), McKenley Dawn Brantley Dixon (Zac), Ashlyn Marie Anderson, Chasity Faith Brantley, Christopher Landon Martin (Emma), Nathan Aaron Brantley, Hailey Reigh Brantley, Tyler Lucas, Carter Mason, Kylee Ann Martin, Addy Martin, Jaxon Lee Martin, Lucy-Faith Marie Brooks, Cayden Lee Brantley, Ryder Keith Taylor Driskill, Everly Rose Dixon, and Waylon Ray Taylor Driskill.
