

Leta "Scrappy" Claire Broadhead, age 85, of Montevallo, Alabama passed away on Friday, August 21, 2020. Leta was the daughter of Samuel Henry Strickland and Mary Ophelia Deramus and was born in Billingsley, Alabama along with 13 siblings.
She is preceded in death by her soulmate and husband of 57 years, Wayne Broadhead; Parents, Samuel and Ophelia Strickland; as well as 11 siblings.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her children. Jeff Broadhead, Karen White (Woody), and Pam Dailey; grandchildren, Josh Bullard, Courtnay Cleveland (Stevan), Hunter Bullard, Shelby Day (Shea), Kelsea Danley (Jacob), and Abby Broadhead; great-grandchildren, Carter Bullard, Emersyn Bullard, Rydar Cleveland, Elliot Cleveland, and Ava Danley; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Leta spent her career as a medical record clerk for Hatley Healthcare for more than 20 years. After retirement at the age of 75, Leta occupied her days by gardening, reading, and cooking wonderful meals for her family. Leta was feisty with a rebellious streak, as the only Auburn fan in a family of Alabama fans; she was proud of her team and her rebellion against tradition. She was a member of New Cedron Baptist Church in Billingsley, Alabama. We know today that Leta is looking down on us from Heaven. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the ladies at Amedisys Health Care, who took such good care of Mrs. Leta.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, August 23, 2020 at 3:00 pm at New Cedron Baptist Church in Billingsley, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Mrs. Broadhead's name.
