Lindy was born on November 13,1932 and grew up in the small town of Randolph, Alabama. From a young age, she enjoyed being outside and working on cars with her brothers. She spent time doing crafts as well as being a seamstress most of her life. She loved all kinds of wildlife. She had a Koi fish pond, cats, dogs, cows, and raised Dalmatian puppies, but her favorite were chickens. She had seen just about everything this world had to offer and was kind to everyone she would meet. Mrs. Lindy was known by many and loved by many more. Her nicknames Lindy Ann, Monna, Maw Maw, Mimi, and more but her favorite of all was "Doll". Her loving husband of 69 years, Floyd, was responsible for that name. If she wasn't in her basement styling someone's hair, she was in one of her gardens tending to her tomatoes, which were her favorite along with peppers, okra, flowers, and more. She was a member of the Master Gardeners and loved flowers. Daylilies were her favorite. She also enjoyed cooking and caring for her family, and would go the extra mile to help anyone in need. She would go with Floyd every week to the thrift store where she could find her treasures. Sundays were always reserved for church. She was a part of the choir, helped with Vacation Bible School crafts, and had a strong relationship with the Lord that remained throughout her entire life. Mrs. Lindy lived a God-centered life and was a good example for many generations coming up after her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Estelle Jackson; husband, Floyd Helton; daughter, Robin Ponder; and many siblings.
She is survived by daughters, Landra Helton, DeNay Jackson (John), Kim Farrington; grandchildren, Ann Deerman (Donnie), Kristi Bearden (Brian), Delvin Farrington (Deb), and Roderick Farrington (Michaela); 10 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
A visitation will be held Friday, April 5, 2024 from 11 am - 12 pm at Shady Grove Baptist Church with a funeral service at 12 pm. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery at Shady Grove Baptist Church cemetery.
