Lois Roberta Houghtaling Ross Busby

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Robert Houghtaling and Lucy Stieber Houghtaling; her husband, Tim "Roger" Busby; daughter, Caroline Pence; daughter-in-law, Jackie Ross; and her sister, Ruth Houghtaling. She is survived by her son, Ron Ross; son-in-law, Jim Pence; her grandchildren, Adam Sherrell (Abbey), Jennifer Beavers (Philip), Joshua Sherrell (Memory), Tiffany Bihm (Javen), David Ross, and Hunter Greer; as well as her stepchildren, Christy Shoemaker, Bethany Raygoza (Omar) and Lindsay Czarnecki (Kevin); seven thoughtful step-grandchildren; and fourteen loving and caring great-grandchildren.

She graduated from Liberty High School and Elizabethtown College. She was married to Karl Ross for 22 years and Tim Busby for 27 years.

She was a business teacher for 20 years, a pathology secretary for 27 years and a church secretary for 11 years.

She was active serving her Lord. She helped care for her brain damaged sister. She taught Sunday School starting at age 12 and for most of her life, teaching preschoolers through young adults. She was active in the Shelby County Christmas Gift Shop.

Her hobbies included reading, baking and traveling. She loved people and life. She had many wonderful friends she cherished. She was grateful for God's many blessings and she enjoyed praising God.

Visitation for Lois will be held Friday, February 7, 2025 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo), 3715 Highway 25, Montevallo, AL 35115. A funeral service will occur Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 345 Bethlehem Church Rd, Shelby, AL 35143, with the family receiving friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM. Pastor Roger Hamaker will officiate. A private committal service will follow at Mars Hill Cemetery in Jemison.
