After Joe retired, they moved to Gulf Shores where she became a real-estate broker and weekly cook for 30 church kids. She was much involved in helping numerous men and women to become better people.
In 2011, Lola and Bill moved to Calera to be closer to family. She stayed very involved with church and helping people with her caring, compassionate personality. Lola had a great sense of humor and helped everyone feel better.
