OBITUARY

Lynda Gail Bowlin

January 12, 1951April 3, 2018

As the sun began to set on Tuesday April 3, 2018 in her hometown of Alabaster, Al, our mother’s work on earth was coming to an end. That evening, she received a call, an offer she’d been waiting on for a meeting which she couldn’t refuse. Although she will not be returning, her body won’t be aching and dialysis is not an issue anymore. This offer comes with a Savior and a reunion with her beloved husband, Jimmy D. Bowlin Sr.; parents, William Thomas “Billy” Massey, and Thelma Bird Massey; grandparents, Willie B. Bird, and Ora J. Curtis Bird; and numerous aunts, uncles, and friends whom she missed very much. She has left behind brokenhearted children, a daughter, Christy Bowlin Henault (Martin) of Boston, MA and a son, Jimmy D. Bowlin (Layne) of Fort Patrick Air Force Base, FL; brother, Kenny Massey (Fran) of Columbiana, AL; grandchildren, Andrew G. Henault, Sebastien F. Henault of Boston, MA. Anthony Bowlin (fiancée Nicole Linski) of Charlottesville, VA, Summer Thomas (Matthew “Mick) of Milton, FL; great-grandchildren, Maverick Bowlin, and soon-to-be addition, Matthew Brooks Thomas; cousins, Debbie McCory (Darrell) of Tampa, FL, Phyllis Denmark (Eric) of Biloxi, MS, Darleen Byrd of Clanton, AL; and special cousin that helped her so much and was always willing to assist with anything she needed, Teressa Payne Connor. Rock and Sarah, our family will be forever grateful for everything you have done for our Mother and the amazing love you always showed her. Special thanks to her church family - First Presbyterian Church of Alabaster, Pastor Darren, Shelby Ridge, Baptist Medical Center staff, Lloyd and Anita Davenport (her second parents), and Jeannette Butler for all of the love and support. Our hearts will never be the same, our Mother has gone home, but we have memories and her love will always be with us. She became a great mother and she excelled at being a grandmother. I am thankful for my time with her, the life lessons, the love and the lesson learned about forgiveness. Please join me (Christy) and her family in celebrating her life. Visitation will be held on April 8, 2018 at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo) from 6-8 PM. A Celebration of Life will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Alabaster on April 9, 2018 at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo at 2:45 PM.

Christy,
We were so saddened to hear of your mother's passing. I am praying for peace and comfort for you and her precious grandsons. She loved you all so dearly. How do I know that ? Because she talked with me on many occasions about the three of you always with nothing but love words. My family can never repay Lynda for all she did for my mother and daddy when they were ill. She came to Mississippi before anyone knew how desperately we needed her. She looked after my mother with such love and concern. She was our lifesaver. She was like that. She loved us all BIG. She may not have always been happy with our actions and she let us know it but she always forgave us and loved us. I know my mother and Aunt Thelma met here at the gate that day and oh what a joyous and loud reunion that had to be . It's not goodbye just see ya later Lynda. "I love you the more in that I believe you have liked me for my own sake and nothing else" Phyllis

I would like to thank everyone that has helped with Linda .. She was a big blessing to me And she will be missed dearly. . I know she was tried of all the pain .. But she wasn't going to let it get her down! She always told me my daddy left her to keep me straight! Cause someone needed too .. I'm lost now without her..

Prayers for peace & comfort for the family. Lynda was always there to lend a helping hand when someone needed her. In, 2016 when Ronald was in the hospital, Lynda would come by to visit and would bring us something to eat, even though she was having health problems herself. Lynda will be missed! I appreciate that Lynda always made sure there were flowers on the graves at the cemetery. In her honor, our family will put flowers out for Mother's Day. If we could look in heaven's window those of the "Bird" family would be drinking coffee, and laughing! Rest in Peace Lynda!

We've shared lots of laughter & tears through the years. I will always remember the adventures we shared with Aunt Thelma right up in the middle of them. Thank you for always being the one to take care of flowers for Maw Maw once Aunt Thelma passed. I pray that you are at peace in your Heavenly home.
