Malcolm Ullman "Mac" McFarland

Malcolm Ullman McFarland, age 94, passed away April 30, 2018. He was a World War II veteran serving in the 2nd Marine Division in the South Pacific theatre. Mac, as he was fondly known, retired from the Birmingham Fire Department after 34 years of service. He was also a contractor and Master Carpenter. Malcolm was a faithful member of Montevallo First Baptist Church where he served as deacon. Mac was preceded in death by his parents, W.U. & Harlie McFarland and his sister, Dorothy McFarland. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Gloria McFarland; two daughters, Malorie Draper (Dennis) and Judy Nuss (Michael); his six grandchildren, Patrick Draper (Jennifer), Andrew Draper, Forrest Draper, Benjamin Nuss (Sioned), Lauren Jones (Phillips) and Caleb Draper (Cortnie); ten great-grandchildren; his sister, Helen Reed (Bearl) and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at 1pm Saturday, May 5, 2018 with service to follow at 2pm at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo). Burial will follow at Rehobeth Baptist Church, Lawley, AL.
