Mamie Barlow Tucker

Mamie Barlow Tucker, age 94, of Selma, Alabama passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023. After graduating high school in 1947, she worked at Woolworth. Mamie married James Tucker in 1956 and they had four children together. She was a devoted Christian and was a member of Selmont Church of Christ. She drove a school bus for Dallas County Schools for many years. She also worked in the cafeteria at Valley Grand and Dunn Nursing Home. She enjoyed gardening and was well-known for her tomatoes. Mamie never met a stranger and will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Tucker; her daughter, Rebecca Pharr; father, John Asbury Barlow; mother, Susie Lee Parnell Barlow Kelly; step-father, Tom "Papa Tom" Kelly; and eight brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children, Barry Tucker of Selma, AL, Barbara Wilkerson (Ken) of Orange Beach, AL, and Betty Tucker of Selma, AL; grandchildren, Kenny Wilkerson (Nikki), Kayla Hasty (Brian), Daniel Gleason, Maxwell Tucker and William Pharr; great-grandchildren, Trevor, Treyton, Shaelynn, Cade, Trotter, Luke and Elzey June; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A visitation for Mamie will be held Thursday, July 13, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Rockco Funeral Home, 3715 Highway 25, Montevallo, Alabama 35115, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Her nephew, Patrick Perry, will officiate, and her late minister's son, Derek Gibbs, will lead the singing.

Mamie will be laid to rest in Enon Cemetery, 4994 Co Rd 18, Montevallo, AL 35115. Pallbearers are Paul Wilkerson, Brian Hasty, Cade Ross, Dean Gibson, Barry McKenzie, William Pharr, Luke Ross and David Hand.

In lieu of flowers, anyone who wishes to assist with final expenses is welcome to donate to the family.
