Mary was a devoted Christian whose faith in the Lord was the foundation of her life. She loved to read, work word searches, cook, and most of all, spend time with her family. She was especially known for her homemade macaroni and cheese with fried chicken bites and her delicious fried apple pies recipes and memories that will live on through the family she loved so dearly.
Mary knew both profound loss and tremendous hardship throughout her life. She lost the love of her life, her husband, Billy Ray Cofer Sr., in 1976 after 17 years of marriage, becoming a widow at just 35 years old. She went on to raise their three children on her own. Throughout her life, she also battled cancer and numerous other health challenges and yet through every trial, Mary continued to find joy in the Lord. She believed deeply in His faithfulness and sought to live her life in a way that honored Christ.
To her grandchildren, Mary was much more than a grandmother. She was a second mother, another cheerleader, and an unwavering source of love and support. Her family will remember her not only for the meals she lovingly prepared and the time she spent with them, but for the strength, faith, encouragement, and unconditional love she gave so freely.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Billy Ray Cofer Sr.; her son, Brian “Bucky” Cofer; her son-in-law, Randy Springer; her siblings Cynthia Cofer (Bud), Sarah Franklin, Betty Martin(Bobby) and Woody Smitherman; as well as her nephews Ray Cofer, David Cofer, Joe Martin and Johnny Wilford.
She is survived by her son, Billy Ray Cofer Jr. (Patty); her daughter, Beverly Springer; and her daughter-in-law, Renee Cofer; six grandchildren and their spouses, April Falkner (Patrick), Amanda Lloyd (Chris), Levi Springer (Holly), Brittany Wyatt (Jason), Jackson Cofer (Hannah), and Caroline Cofer; and seven great-grandchildren, Carter and Maci Falkner, Lucas Wyatt, Elizabeth and Randi Lloyd, and Adaline and Amelia Springer
Mary’s life was a testament to perseverance, faith, and love. Though she endured more than many will ever know, she continued to find joy in her family and strength in her faith. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now at peace and reunited with those she loved, resting in the presence of the Lord she faithfully served.
