Mary Louise Russell

Mary Louise Russell, age 77, of Montevallo, passed away April 2, 2016. Mary put Shelby County on the map by getting bond money from the state to build in the late 1970s. She was a brilliant businesswoman and amazing with computers before anyone else. She lived and worked in Alabama and Gatlinburg in real estate and as a business owner. She worked hard, loved life, and was spoiled yet grateful. The past 2 ½ years she spent with her sisters as the “Golden Girls” has been a blessing from God. The love they shared was immeasurable, and she will never be replaced in the hearts of those that love her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Russell; son, Edgar Lloyd Harvey; brothers, James William Love and Carl Edward Love; sister, Virginia Simmons; and her sweet mama, Jessie Love. Mary is survived by her son, Carlos “Mark” Harvey (Nina) of Warrior; daughter, Donna Marie McAfee of Tennessee; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sue Lowery and Wanda Fancher of Montevallo; and brother, Michael Love of Montevallo. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo). The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Shelby Memory Gardens in Calera.
