Born on February 2, 1958, in Fort Myers, Florida, Mitch lived a life defined by hard work, dedication, adventure, and love for his family and friends. While he was born in Southwest Florida and spent many cherished years in Okeechobee, LaBelle, and Lehigh Acres, Florida.
Mitch was well known throughout his career for his work in civil engineering and road building. He built all roads in Gateway, Lehigh and surrounding counties. He was the best grader operator there ever was. Of all the projects he worked on, he took pride as General Superintendent over site development for the Midfield Terminal Project what is now known as the Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers, Florida.
A proud United States Marine Corps veteran, Mitch carried the values of strength, discipline, and loyalty with him throughout his life. He was a man who could be tough as nails when necessary, yet those who knew him best understood that beneath that rugged exterior was a heart of gold. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, share his knowledge, or oer support to those he cared about.
Mitch found joy in the simple things he loved most. He enjoyed barbecuing for family and friends, mullet fishing, running his airboat, hunting, and working on just about anything that needed fixing. If something was broken, Mitch could usually find a way to repair it. He loved the outdoors, treasured time spent on the water and never met a challenge he was unwilling to tackle.
Mitch was preceded in death by his Daddy, Clarence Carter Raulerson "Cowboy"; his Momma, Lucinda Yates Johnson; and his son, Jamey Raulerson. He is survived by his wife and the love of his life, Kathy Raulerson, along with their cherished fur babies, Storm, Oakly, and Lucy. He is also survived by his children, Brandy Raulerson McManus (Brandy), Alecia Glass (Buddy), and TJ Kerr (Amanda); six grandchildren, Jessica (Richie), Kage, Bentley, Khloe, Sophia, and Cypris; three great-grandchildren, Richie, Ava, Jackson; his siblings, Manny, Herman, Buddy, Cecil, and Barbie; his dear cousin, Jody Raulerson; sister-in-law, Diane Sorensen; and a host of extended family members, and treasured friends.
Though our hearts are heavy with his passing, we take comfort in knowing that Mitch is at peace and reunited with those who went before him. His legacy will live on through the family he loved, the friendships he cherished, the lives he touched, and the roads, communities, and projects he helped build. Semper Fi, Mitch. Your watch is over, but your memory will live on forever.
