Patric was born into a military family on November 15, 1965. His youth was spent traveling across the country from base to base, aggravating his younger siblings in the backseat of the car in the grim 1970’s when the only form of entertainment available to traveling children was the license plate game and that classic “Dead Skunk in the Middle of the Road”, both of which he excelled at.
Patric was an indifferent student, but a voracious reader, inhaling science fiction and fantasy novels like air. In school, he preferred pranks to schoolwork, and one of his proudest “scholastic” accomplishments was riding a small motorcycle through the halls of his high school, presumably while being chased by angry administrators!
At the age of 18, he withdrew from school and enlisted in the army.
Patric served his country for ten years, including a tour in Desert Storm which is where he was likely exposed to the toxic chemicals that led to his untimely death from cancer.
However, his military service was a source of great pride for him, and he remained involved with military organizations until his death.
In recent years, he was closely involved with the American Legion in Fayetteville, TN, and he was instrumental in helping establish the Fayetteville/Lincoln County Memorial Project in Fayetteville, TN, which is dedicated to honoring the citizens of that county who served in the military.
Patric is survived by his sister, Jennifer Brunner (Tim), his brother, Jason Bennett, his stepmother, Sheila Bennett, his nephews Josh Brunner and Liam Bennett, his nieces Abby Heinke (Jeff), and Anna Brunner, as well as a special friend who cared for him until the end.
He will be missed terribly and his death has left a painful void in our hearts and lives. However, we know he is at peace, free of pain, and able to finally find the answer to the question that haunted him all his adult life: What IS the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow?
A small celebration of life will be held on May 30th in the chapel at Rocko Funeral Home in Montevallo, Alabama from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Private Inurnment at the National Cemetery in Montevallo will follow at a later date. Donations in his memory can be made to the Fayetteville/Lincoln County Memorial Project: FoFLCV, 113 Main Ave North, Fayetteville TN 37334.
