Robert Burns Olson
March 27, 1949 – August 13, 2019
Robert Burns Olson went home to Jesus on August 13, 2019 after a life well lived.
Burns was born to Bob and Pat Olson on March 27, 1949 in Mitchell, South Dakota. As a child he was active in Boy Scouts, church, and baseball. Oldest of five siblings with four sisters, he was patient and understanding. He was true to all he called friend.
Burns met his wife, Sally Lovejoy, in 1976 in Birmingham, Alabama and married in the same year. His wife Sally Olson and their two children, Kelli Bennitt, Morgan Olson, their spouses, and six grandchildren survive him.
Burns worked as a Firefighter and Paramedic for the City of Birmingham for 21 years. He enjoyed serving others, his community, and his country.
Mostly he enjoyed making memories with the people he loved by, camping, family get-togethers, and special occasions.
After retirement Burns and his wife, Sally, moved to the beach to spend more time with his father. He took long walks and made friends with everyone he met, because he never met a stranger.
Burns was a kind and committed friend, best brother, dedicated father, and loyal husband. He enjoyed bad jokes, silly puns, and spending time with his family. He will be missed by all.
