A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, March 14 at 5:30 p.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 80 St. Thomas Way, Montevallo with the Reverend Raymond A. Bob is preceded in death by his father Louis Shiller; his mother Alice Melson Shiller, and his step-mother Bessie Harris Shiller. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Anne Shiller; his brother, Sam Shiller (Linda) of Tuscaloosa; his step sons, Kevin Roberts (Audra) of Alabaster, and Sean Roberts of Birmingham; seven grandchildren, Samantha, Emily, John Patrick, Carson, Abbey, Elise, and Luke; and a niece, Jennifer Shiller Leonard, of Alabaster. Bob was born and raised in Marion, Alabama and grew up working in the family clothing business where he quickly developed his business acumen. He attended Perry County High School and earned BS and Master’s degrees from Auburn University. In his professional career he worked for the State of Alabama as Chief Statistician for the Bureau of Vital Statistics, and had an extensive career with Baptist Health System, retiring as the Director of Strategic Planning. He later continued his career by joining his wife Anne at Birmingham Restaurant Supply, Inc. (BRESCO) where he was employed until his death. Bob was a gifted woodworker, and enjoyed building everything from unique bird houses to extraordinary tack trunks. He enjoyed photography, loved nature and his pets, and together with Anne created a magnificent back-yard landscape that would rival any botanical garden. Bob was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Council 9550 and was a faithful servant to his Church and blessed by many wonderful friends. His smile could light up a room and he especially enjoyed his grand children! He and Anne loved to travel and enjoyed memorable trips to many destinations. The family wishes to thank Dr. Robert Green and his staff at Southview Medical Group, P.C. for their compassionate caring and assistance during this time along with Affinity Hospice who graced us during Bob's final time at home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church or a charity of your choice.
