Born on the 13th day of August in 1943, Sandra Gail Alexander graced this world with her presence. It was on July 26th that she breathed her last Earthly breath and took a deep and healthy inhale in her eternal home. Whole again. She has gone to meet her maker, her Lord, her Savior. In the 28, 837 days she was a blessing to multitudes.
Sandra is preceded in death by her parents, James Alvin Alexander and Ruth Johns Alexander; her only brother James “Jimmy” Alexander; and niece Patti Alexander.
Sandra is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Bobby Allen Thames; sons Jeffrey Allen Thames and his wife Amy, Brady Alexander Thames and his wife Andrea, daughters Tracy Carol Thames (fiancé Guy Krebs), Courtney Summer Thames (Miller) and her husband Mike; grandchildren Austin and Jordan Thames, Madison Thames (fiancé Cory Anderson), Luke and Kennedy Miller, sister-in-law Patricia Alexander, and both her cherished nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
Licensed daycare provider, Sandra was ‘Day momma’ or Meme to dozens over a period of nearly 30 years, former Shelby County employee under the late Judge Tommy Snowden, Shelby County Reporter Columnist, supporter of Thompson High School sports, and active member of FPCA (Elliottsville) in Alabaster.
Mrs. Thames was known to speak her mind, had an avid interest in children and the elderly, and never met a stranger. While she blessed others, her greatest blessings were her grandchildren coming in second to the saving grace and forgiveness of Jesus Christ.
Services will be held on Saturday afternoon the 30th of July at First Presbyterian Church of Alabaster. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00am, with a service to begin at 11:00am. Graveside to immediately follow.
