

Shirley Anne Brantley, age 88, of Maylene, Alabama passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025. She was a graduate of Thompson High School and owned and operated Brantleyville Grocery with her husband, Jack. She also retired from the US Postal Service as a mail clerk with the Alabaster Post Office. Shirley was a member of Helena United Methodist Church where she played piano and organ with her sister for many years. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Brantley; and parents, Herman and Margaret Whitfield. She is survived by her sons, Tom Brantley (Kathy) of Tallahassee, FL and Phillip Brantley (Pauline) of Pelham, AL; grandchildren, Dr. Hunter Brantley, Garrett Brantley (Maria), and Patrick Brantley; sister, Hilda Jowers (Eddy) of Pelham, AL; brother, John Alan Whitfield (Juanita) of Helena, AL; brother-in-law, Jerry Brantley (Barbara) of Foley, AL; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service for Shirley will be held Monday, September 8, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Ryan Cemetery, 12337 Highway 17, Montevallo, AL 35115. Rev. Malinda Jowers Weaver will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Ryan Cemetery Fund, 128 McAlpin Cir., Pelham, AL 35124.
