Albert Hershel Murdock

Murdock, Albert Hershel, 83, a resident of Montgomery, AL, born in Coffee County, AL, died Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the home of his daughter after an extended illness. Mr. Murdock was a long time member of Capitol Heights Baptist Church. Visitation will be held at Leak Memory Funeral Home from 1:00 - 3:00 PM prior to the funeral. Funeral services will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 3:00 PM. Burial will follow immediately at Greenwood Cemetery. Dr. Perry Neal, long time friend of the family, will be officiating at the services. Mr. Murdock was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Croley Murdock; parents, Joseph and Wyllene Murdock; and a sister, Carolyn Baxley. He is survived by son, Vance (Susan) Murdock and daughter, Ginger (Phil) Solomon; granddaughter, Katie (Brian) Ferguson; grandsons, Cory (Misti) Solomon, Randall (Dell) Murdock, Russell (Margaret) Murdock and four great-grandchildren, Layne Solomon, Lily Ferguson, Anna Claire Murdock, and Marlee Murdock. Other survivors include sisters, Mozelle (Wade) Farris, Vivian (Byron) Paulson; brother, Mickey (Liz) Murdock; sister-in-law, Hazel (Kent, Sr.) Speigner, and many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by many friends with whom he served 43 years in the Alabama Army National Guard. Serving as pallbearers will be Cory Solomon, Randall Murdock, Russell Murdock, Robbie Speigner, Dale Farris, and Kent Speigner, Jr. The family would also like to thank Hospice of Montgomery, the staff of Angels for the Elderly, special care giver, Samantha Harriel, special friend, Jackie Causey and many others who ministered to us during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity.
