Ms. O was one of my of my unofficial mentors, though she never knew it...I honor her memory and legacy through our shared love of language,  literature, and teaching. May she continue to rest well🤍

I remember Alice and Carlos fondly from my days at MLT.  Our prayers are with your entire family in the loss of your sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Alice's dedication and love for her students are why so many of Catholic High's students went on to high aspirations. Her legacy lives on through those students who are able to correctly articulate through the written word. Her kindnesses and love for her community will be missed. We will remember her and her wonderful family in our rosary daily.

May Peace be with Miz O and her family. She was an inspiring person who touched many lives and a teacher in the purest sense of the word.

Alice was a very amazing woman who taught schoold and raised a fine family.  Although I didn't her, I had the blessing of getting to know her son Andy after attending Queen of Mercy in elementary school. Andy always was full of adventure and fun to be around. We have run in many races against each other since then.

Ms. Ortega was a wonderful teach and a great person. I hope that all of the family is doing well. I pray that she is at peace now.

Our entire family remembers Alice, Carlos and their wonderful, talented children from MLT days, and later seeing Alice at ASF.  We mourn with you the loss of your sweet mother.

Spill, I always heard that the loss of a mother or child is devastating.I have not experienced this but I have suffered a great loss. I am thankful for the love and support you showed me and I only want to do the same for you and your family.I will see you soon and keep you in my prayers. Please accept my sincere condolences.

When I first worked at MLT and each time following, Alice was one I most enjoyed.  Always smiling and always willing to listen, she was a comforting presence.  She was honest, sincere, and helpful.  She was my friend and I miss her.

Not having gone to school here I didn't know Alice except through her front of the house work at ASF. She was a charming and welcoming presence there. My thoughts and prayers are with Ti and the entire family.

It is the time to cry freely,to remember abundantly and to rejoice with GREAT THANKSGIVING for the life of this gracious and wonderful lady who gave you life and love.

I worked with Ms. Ortega many years ago at Fuller & Dees.  She was such a fine lady and a great person to work with.  Such sweet memories.

Alice cast me in a lesser-known Lillian Hellman play at MLT in 1976 and she was always so kind and fun. And she was certainly the best house manager ASF ever had--I remember how she would calm down agitated audience members who arrived late and had to wait to be escorted to their seats! I'm glad that she had her well-deserved 80th birthday party recently. What a warm and talented lady!

Simply put, Miz O. loved us, and we knew it. We loved her in return, and somewhere along the way, we all became better students, better people really, because of her.

My sincerest condolences to her family.

You are so loved and will be missed by so many. Peace.

Love and light to each of you!! What a wonderful gift Alice's friendship was to each of us!! Her smile was so warm and her mind so sharp that anyone who met her was entranced immediately and remained that way. May flights of angels sing you to your rest, dear Alice!!

Will always appreciate the efforts she made to make her students successful adults. She made a huge difference in a lot of young people's futures. I know my daughter will always appreciate her influence.

Alice, wonderful Alice. I have nothing but warm memories of her from ASF and my many years there (1988-1996). She was tireless, full of resolve and no problem was too big for her to handle. I knew I could always make her laugh, and so I tried at every turn to do just that. No matter how frazzled the day was, seeing Alice was always a welcoming sight for sore eyes. Much love to her family from one who loved her, too.

We are saddened to learn of Miz O's passing.  She was a special person and a favorite teacher of our 3 Catholic High graduates and, we're sure, a multitude of others.

Miss O certainly loved my son and daughter and was very influential in their lives as a Catholic High students.  A great loss to the school and community.

Simple elegance defines Mrs. Ortega. I asked her once why she stayed in Catholic education for so much years, and she replied, "I guess I liked it." She taught students to become good writers, and yet if I were to try to convey in words how much she meant to so many people, my description would fall short. God bless and God speed, dear Alice.

Alice was one of the first, and most welcoming people I met at Montgomery Little Theatre. Such a smart, funny, open minded--ahead of her time lady. She and her husband Carlos created a wonderful family that I adore and cherish. She will be missed.

Miz O was inspiring and always challenged us to be better students.  She made learning fun, and she fostered a love of theatre outside of school by allowing us to work at Shakespeare Festival (man, I loved those days).  She will be missed by generations of Catholic High students.  She was the best!

My favorite teacher ever, I'm so sad you are gone, but I know we will meet again, and I'm sure you will be ready with your red pen to correct all my grammatical mistakes. I look forward to it. Thank you.
