

Alma Charles Johnson Windom departed this life on Thursday, May 26, 2016 in Montgomery, Alabama at the age of 76. Alma was born and grew up in the Franklin Community in Macon County, Alabama. She was the daughter of James R. and Clyde Dell Johnson. Nicknamed "Charlie" by her family and close friends, Alma graduated from Tuskegee High School in 1967. She later obtained her Bachelor's degree from Auburn University at Montgomery in 1993. Alma was a state employee for many years, working primarily in the office of Secretary of State.
Alma was married to her beloved husband Ralph for almost 42 years at the time of her death. Alma was a loving and kind person and fiercely loyal to her family and friends. Alma especially loved animals and had many pets over the years. Her favorites were dogs Muffin and Muggs and cats Dumplin and Tiger to name a few. She loved the squirrels and rabbits in her yard and fed them daily.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents James R. and Clyde Dell Johnson. She is survived by her beloved husband Ralph Windom, step-sons Steve Windom (Mary) and Mike Windom (Marion), grandchildren Robert Windom (Lauren), Thomas Windom (Jen), Kris Windom, Misty Windom Polson (Travis) and Patrick and 7 great grandchildren.
Services will be held at White Chapel Funeral Home with internment at Greenwood cemetery at 11 a.m. on Tuesday May 31, 2016. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:00 prior to the service.

The family is deeply grateful to Theresa Moorer for the loving care she provided Alma and to the caregivers from Answered Prayer. We also acknowledge the wonderful care provided by the doctors, nurses and staff of Jackson Hospital.
