He was born in Crenshaw County, Alabama and graduated from Montgomery Bible School, now Alabama Christian Academy. He also attended Montgomery Bible College, now Faulkner University.
When he was 14 years old, his family moved to Mt. Dora, Florida to be part of the founding of Christian Home and Bible School. With his father, he started the first ready mix concrete plant in Eustis, Florida. He was also one of the founding members of the Orange Avenue Church of Christ in Eustis, Florida.
He was a talented church building designer and builder and designed and built innumerable church buildings in 17 states and Canada. His love for the Lord can be seen in the buildings that he designed and built. He had the vision to incorporate child daycare with startup churches. With this vision, the building was used five days a week for daycare to pay for the building so the churches had the means to grow. Facilities still operate today in Alabama and Florida.
In 1980, he moved his family to Tallahassee, Florida to open an office and constructed the Timberlane Church of Christ which led to numerous church buildings in the state of Florida. He remained in Tallahassee, Florida until 1986. The family returned to their roots in Montgomery where he spent the rest of his career until his retirement in 2004.
He was a faithful member of the East Tallassee Church of Christ, Tallassee, Alabama, which he also designed and built.
Just as he loved to see churches grow, he loved to see the beauty of God’s handiwork and was an avid gardener, growing vegetables and beautiful flowers.
He loved his family with all his heart and spent his entire life serving the Lord.
Pall bearers will be his grandsons, Chris Davis, Stephen Black, Matthew Harris, Alex Warren, Blake Warren and Brad Johnston.
Visitation will be at Leak Memory in Montgomery, Alabama, Tuesday, March 29, 2022 from 12:00 to 1:00. Graveside service will be at 1:30 at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 9504 US-331, Montgomery, Alabama.

Just For Today
Lord, for tomorrow I do not pray
For I have no promise of one more day.
Today, let my light shine as the morning sun,
Only the race for thee to run.
Today, help me no idle word to say,
My lips only thy will dear Lord I pray.
Today, let my feet walk the narrow path,
The cares of this life on thee to cast.
Today, let the kindness shine through me,
That others may joy and happiness see.
Today, let me draw from thee my strength,
As the inward I renew and thee I seek.
Lord, for tomorrow I do not pray,
Love me, guide me just for today!
