Annie “Bonnie” McKim Cooper, born in Montgomery and a resident most of her life, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2018, at John Knox Manor. The daughter of Henry Thomas and Annie Barnett McKim, Bonnie celebrated her 100th birthday in February.
Bonnie attended Sidney Lanier High School and was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. She was predeceased by her parents, husband of fifty years, James P. Cooper, daughter Bonnie Califano, grandchildren, Pamela Rose, Troy Rose and John Youngblood Hunt, and her six siblings. She is survived by her daughter Dorothy Wernli (Rich) of Montgomery, son James P. Cooper, Jr. (Laurie) of Nashville, TN, three grandchildren, Kathryn Mitchell, James P. Cooper III (Annemarie), Jason Califano and four great-grandchildren, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
Devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Bonnie maintained a sweet disposition even when her health declined. A loving spirit, she was warm, caring and often humorous.
The family expresses their deepest appreciation to the staff of John Knox Manor and Wesley Gardens and to Georgia Patterson and Rita Richards for their loving care of Bonnie.
Her graveside service will be held Friday, June 8, 2018 at 11:00 am in Greenwood Cemetery, Montgomery, AL. The Rev. Lee Bloodworth of Covenant Presbyterian Church will officiate. The family will receive relatives and friends at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, AL 36109 one hour prior to the service.
