“Mr. Arthur Harvey Day Jr., passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Jackson Hospital. Mr. Day was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Harvey Day Sr. and Ruby Day; and his daughter, Jennifer Day. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Donna Day; and his son, Edward Day. He is also survived by four sisters: B.J. Thistrup, Patsy Hicks, Clara Day and Melody Davis, and numerous other beloved extended family members. Mr. Day was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force after eight years of service to the country that he loved. Just after basic training, he met his future wife, Donna Burns at the air base bowling alley in Cheyenne, Wyoming. They were blessed with the birth of their two children; Jennifer Day and Edward Day. Mr. Day was born and raised in Selma, Alabama where most of his family resided. Towards the end of his service in the military, he relocated Donna and the children back to Selma. Remaining in the Central Alabama area, he loved spending his time either in the woods hunting, on the river fishing, or cheering for Auburn Football on game days. The only other thing that he loved more was spending time with his family. It has been said countless times that his entire family was the closest and most loving. He was a graduate from Auburn University in Business and retired from Jackson Hospital after 28 years of faithful service in the Accounting Department where he touched so many lives. A public visitation will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018 from 1:00-2:00pm in the chapel of White Chapel-Greenwood Funeral home located at 909 Lincoln Rd. Montgomery, Al. 36109 with a Celebration of Life Memorial Service to follow at 2:00pm. Minister Russell Nuss will be officiating. In lieu of flowers being sent, the family requests that donations be made to charities of your choosing. Fond memories and condolences can be made by going to www.whitechapel-greenwoodfh.com.

I remember Arthur from High School at A.G. Parrish, Class of '65. He was always smiling and was friendly and nice to meet in the halls. I was so glad to hear of his career at Jackson. I retired from a laboratory career at Jackson. Of course, I had no reason to know any one on their Accounting Dept. But when I heard through John Coon that Arthur was there I was pleased. Donna, I am so sorry for your loss. "Love is immortal And life is eternal, but death is an horizon and an horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight."(William Penn) May you all get a picture in your head of Arthur just being on the other side of the horizon playing with Jennifer and waiting for you. May God comfort you

Arthur and i graduated from AG Parrish High in 1965 and i always enjoyed his friendship. The event that forever bonded us was when we were in Elementary School in the 5th grade our schools played one another in baseball. We were playing behind Francis Thomas Elementary on their field, and i was playing short stop,Arthur was on second base, the kid at bat hit the ball to me and as i bent over to field the ball Arthur had left 2nd base coming my way but i did not see him coming, and his thigh made contact with my head,i came to my senses in the hospital with a concussion. He was the biggest kid on their team and it was like a truck ran over me ,but from that day on he and i would tease one another about that day .I saw Arthur at one of our class reunions and was glad to see him again, but this news is tragic and i want to express my heart felt sorrow at the loss of a good man. God Bless You his family and God bless my friend Arthur Day
