Arthur is survived by; son Arthur Mallard Mason Jr.; daughters Vercie McElvy and Shirley Jones; and son-in-law Bruce Jones. His grandchildren included; Taylor Vanlandingham (Jason), Mason Jones and Walt Jones. Arthur was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Mason.
A member of the Army and then the Air Force, Mr. Mason served his country dutifully. He followed his time in service with several occupational roles: Montgomery postal carrier, motor cycle policeman for MPD and even as a nurse on a psychiatric ward of a local hospital. His interested included martial arts (particularly karate) and boxing. He had trophies from participation in both sports. He loved Alabama football and NASCAR as evidenced by the shirts and photos he had collected over the years.
A visitation for Arthur will be held Wednesday, July 31, 2019 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at White Chapel-Greenwood Funeral Home, 909 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109 followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 pm. Immediately after the Celebration of Life, a committal will be observed in Greenwood Cemetery.
