Barbara Kay Lerner

Barbara Kay Lerner, 83, of Montgomery, AL, stepped into heaven on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, after an extended illness at home. Barbara moved to Montgomery in the 1950’s and graduated as valedictorian from The Williams School. She was the owner and dance instructor with Barbara Kay School of Dance and also worked many years at Corsino’s Restaurant and had a passion for making and decorating cakes for special occasions.

She is the daughter of the late Edward Popkins and Ona Mae Killough Popkins.

She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Charles “Chuck” Lerner Sr.; sons, Charles Lerner Jr. MD, and his wife Anne-Marie, and Philip Lerner; daughter Jewel Wilkinson and her husband Robert; grandchildren Tyler Wilkinson, Grant Wilkinson, Brittney Bussey, Kelsi Brewer, Heath Lerner, Lacie Lerner, Dana Thomson; 14 great grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Eastern Hills Baptist Church on Friday, March 25, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with a graveside to follow in Montgomery Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.
