Barbara French Turner of Birmingham passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at age 89 at Brookwood Baptist Hospital. She was the oldest child of parents James Raleigh and Evelyn Alexander French. She was raised in Montgomery Alabama, graduating from Lanier High School in 1947. She married her high school sweetheart John Robert Turner. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1978, and by her sister Helen French Miller.
Barbara worked many years as a bookkeeper and owned an American Handicrafts store. She attended Highland Avenue Baptist Church and Dalriada Baptist Church. She was an exceptional seamstress and cook. She enjoyed all types of crafts, acrylic painting, gardening, flower arranging, and listening to books on tape.
Barbara is survived by her 4 children; Theresa Turner Robbins (Andy), John Turner (Robin), Denise Turner, and Russel Turner (Sally), by 5 grandchildren; Cheri Sides, Susan Sides Hartley (Kenny), Reid Turner, Eric Turner, and Alex Turner, and 2 great-grandchildren; Brynn Hartley, and Brooks Hartley.
A public visitation will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018 from 10:00am-10:45am in the chapel of White Chapel-Greenwood Funeral Home located at 909 Lincoln Rd. Montgomery, AL. 36109 with a Celebration of Life Graveside Service to follow at Greenwood Cemetery at 11:00am. Pastor Reid Turner will be officiating.
