Betty Clara Gibbons, 88, a longtime resident of Montgomery, died peacefully at Southern Springs Healthcare. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Gaston Gibbons and her parents, Jesse Lee Anderson and Clara Cleo Anderson. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Harold, Gerald and Donald Anderson.
She is survived by her daughter, Tara Lynn Brown, son-in-law, Stephen and two cherished grandchildren, Dawson and Shelby. Betty was born in Montgomery on January 30, 1935. She graduated from Lanier High School. She was employed as a secretary at Gunter Air Force Base for over 30 years. She was a lifetime member of Eastmont Baptist Church. Betty served at Eastmont and with the Family Sunshine Center, a domestic violence shelter.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Family Sunshine Center.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Wednesday, January 3rd at 11:00 am with Clint Laundry officiating. Burial will follow at Montgomery Memorial on Wednesday.
