Betty Voncille Kelly Hood

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 31st at 11:00 am from the chapel of Leak Memory with REV. Warren Culver officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at 10:00 Tuesday morning at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be John Bush, Franklin Bush, Blake Rutland, David Bess, Mike Lambert, and Tommy Anderson.

Mrs. Hood is survived by two sisters and one brother: Ruth Anderson, Jennie Sanders and James Kelley and preceded by two brothers David Kelley and Marion Kelley. She is survived by two daughters and sons in law: Diane and Danny Bush of Hope Hull, Al, and Debbie and Randy Bush of Auburn, AL; four grandchildren; John (Kristi) Bush, Reagan (Blake) Rutland, Joshlyn (David) Bess; and Franklin Bush; Six great grandchildren; Landon Bush, Alex Bush, Daniel Rutland, Dalton Rutland, Brantley Rutland, and Wyatt Bess, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was a member of Capitol Heights Baptist Church, and previously a member of Highland Gardens Baptist Church for 48 years. She was retired from the Alabama Board of Education. Family was very important to her, Throughout the years she faithfully attended her grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s sporting events and other family activities. She also greatly loved her church and the many lifelong friends she knew there. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Alacare Hospice of Opelika. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alabama Center for Childhood Cancer at Children's of Alabama.
