
Betty Burr Majure passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 16, 2017. Born and raised in Chesterfield, SC, the daughter of John Thomas Burr and Grace Lee Burr, Betty was a resident of Montgomery, AL, since 1971. She was the wife of Charles D. (“Charlie”) Majure and they raised a family together in Cayce, SC, and Montgomery, AL. Betty was devoted to her family and her work. She was employed in the insurance industry in Montgomery for many years and she served loyally and diligently at both Collier Cobb and the Willis Caroon agencies. Betty was a devoted congregant at Westminster Presbyterian Church and at the time of her brief illness served there as Treasurer of the Women of the Church. Betty was a Rotary Foundation Paul Harris Fellow. She was known to all as a fantastic cook and as an avid reader. She was loved by her friends and family for her generosity in passing along her books for all to enjoy. Betty was predeceased by her loving husband Charlie in 2012. She is survived by her daughter Anne C. (“Connie”) Majure Rhett (Haskell), and her son Charles T. (“Tommie”) Majure. Surviving family members also include her sisters Kathy Combs and Barbara Landon, both of South Carolina. Betty will be remembered as loyal to her friends and family and as a woman who loved and was loved by her family and friends in return. At Betty’s request there will be no service. The family would like to thank Comfort Care Hospice for the care Betty received, especially Deanna, Teresa, Regina, and Kim, as well as her nighttime angel Tasha. In lieu of flowers, memorials gifts may be made to the Montgomery Humane Society, 1150 John Overton Drive, Montgomery, AL 36110.
