

Bobbie Walding McVay of Montgomery, AL, passed away on July 22, 2026, at the age of 80. Bobbie was raised in Opp, AL, and graduated from said named high school before moving to Montgomery to pursue a career, during which she attended Auburn University at Montgomery to further her education. She proudly served as an employee of the State of Alabama for over 30 years before her retirement, earning recognition in several of the departments in which she made her mark, including the Department of Public Safety and the Department of Education.
She was an avid member and supporter of her local chapter of Business and Professional Women (BPW) with a stalwart commitment to attending and supporting every event possible. During her tenure in the organization, she served in several officer roles, both local and state, and gained many friends.
Bobbie was also very active in supporting many charitable causes that she held very dear, most notably for childhood cancer, breast cancer, and Native American organizations and events. She also favored veterans’ organizations due to her support for military troops.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 55 years, Joel R. McVay, and two sisters Rebecca Walding and Eva Walding. She is survived by her sons Michael C. McVay and Brian M. McVay (Sarah), granddaughter Ashley McAvinew (Shane), sisters Sue Thorn and Betty Bullard, step grandchildren Krystyna George, Jordan Storms, and Jordan Hosek, and nieces and nephews: Melinda, Sandra, Donna, Randy, Heather, and Devin.
She will always be remembered as a special woman.
Services will be held at White Chapel 909 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109, on Sunday 07-26-2026 with Visitation beginning at 1pm and Funeral at 2pm.
Family Graveside to follow immediately after services at Greenwood Cemetery.
