VALDEZ, Bobby Gene, 81, began his journey to meet his maker on December 27, 2011. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at White Chapel – Greenwood Funeral Home at 1pm, followed by graveside at 2pm. He will be laid to rest immediately following visitation at Greenwood Cemetery. The service will be officiated by Pastor Walter Albritton. Bob was born August 22, 1930 in Lawton, OK to Mr. and Mrs. John R. Valdez. His life was one of honor. All of his accomplishments are too numerous to recite, but these are just a few; He served in the USAF for over 22 years as a fighter pilot and was recipient of 22 medals and decorations that included the Gallantry Cross and two Medals of Honor. He was an excellent fighter pilot, VP of Wainwright Engineering, served as the State Director of Aeronautics for the State of Alabama, and was owner of FAC, Inc. His tours of duty for the United States of America included Japan, Korea, Cypress, Royal Air Force in Wattisham, England, and he was stationed in numerous places throughout the United States. His heart was generous. Bob Valdez was a loving and devoted husband to Sara for over 55 years, and cherished father and grandfather. He was always a gentleman of absolute integrity. He is survived by his father, John. R. Valdez; two daughters, Cheri Windsor and Taffy Pippin; and three grandchildren, Paul Windsor, Michelle Windsor and Zach Pippin. Heaven is a better place with his arrival, and we here on earth have been denied our protector, rock and patriarch of wisdom. We will not say good-bye to him, but only good-night.
