

Dr. Bryant Heflin Hudson, III, 71, passed away suddenly on Monday, September 29, 2014 at his home in Troy. Dr. Hudson was the son of the late B.H. (Jack) Hudson Jr. and Dell. He was a longtime resident of Montgomery, practicing Urology and Family Medicine for over 42 years. After graduating from Lee in 1960, he went on to receive his bachelors’ and medical degrees from the University of Alabama. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and the Alabama National Guard Reserve. Dr. Hudson’s passion was music, and he was an accomplished drummer, first with the Marching Generals of Robert E. Lee, then with the University of Alabama’s Million Dollar Band, and until recently, with the Southeast Alabama Community Band. He was a lover of animals, including his much-loved pugs and many other furry dog and cat friends.
He is survived by his wife, Jeannie Snellgrove Hudson of Troy; his children: Melody (Eric) Wine of Wetumpka; Dawn (Steve) Barranco of Montgomery; Bryant (Buddy) H. (Melissa) Hudson IV of Garland, TX, and stepson, Daniel Meredith of New York, NY; and sister, Mrs. Bettye Hudson Jacobs of Montgomery. He leaves 8 grandchildren: Joshua (Haley) Wine, and Aaron (Whitlee) Wine, both of Auburn; Jack and Gage Hudson, both of Montgomery; Kayla Hudson, Garland, TX; Hannah, Emily, and Ryan Barranco, all of Montgomery; and a host of other special family members and friends to cherish his memory.
Services will be held on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Leak-Memory Chapel with the Rev. Art Long officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Interment will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gordon Hudson, Robin Simpson, David Simpson, Tab Cosby, Jack Hudson and Gage Hudson. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Johnny Long, Jim Dinkins, and Doug Cripple, In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Montgomery Humane Society in Dr. Hudson’s memory.
