Mr. Carey (Shorty) Lindley Hatfield, of Montgomery, age 84, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2018 in Augusta, GA. He was an Army veteran of the Korean war. After the war, he returned home to run his farm and to start Carey Hatfield Trucking, hauling cattle, hay, produce and general commodities throughout the majority of his lifetime. Carey loved spending time with his family, picking pecans with his grandchildren and tinkering on his big trucks. He is survived by his wife of 53 years; Betty Sue Hatfield, brother; Cedric Hatfield, son; Tracy Hatfield, daughters; Amy Hatfield, Samantha (Robb) Ramey, Gabrielle (Kelly) Cox, Jeannie (Trey) Laube, along with his 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. A public visitation will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2018 from 11:00 am- 11:45 am in the chapel of White Chapel-Greenwood Funeral Home located at 909 Lincoln Rd. Montgomery, AL 36109 with a graveside service to follow at 12.00 pm with military honors at Montgomery Memorial Cemetery located at 3001 Simmons Dr. Montgomery, AL. 36108.
