OBITUARY
Carl Edmond Head, Jr.
September 30, 1953 – February 21, 2021
Carl Edmond Head, Jr., 67, entered into the presence of his Savior on February 21, 2021. Carl was born on September 30, 1953 in Montgomery, AL to Carl and Miriam Head. After receiving a degree in music education from Troy State University, he came back to Montgomery where he met his wife, Gail Ingle Head. Shortly after getting married in 1978, they moved to Fort Worth, TX where Carl attended The Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Carl served many churches throughout his ministry as a worship pastor and spent his last 21 years of ministry at Lakeview Baptist Church in Montgomery, AL. Along with pastoral music ministry, Carl worked as a general contractor for nearly 40 years. Most of his career was spent managing Head Construction, with his final year spent as a builder with Doug Hollyhand Realty, Inc. Carl was known for his friendliness; he never met a stranger. Even while in the hospital, he was selflessly interested in the spiritual well-being of his caretakers. Carl also had a generous heart. Whether it was helping one of his children or visiting a church member, Carl poured out his life for others. He adored his family. Known as “Pop” by his children and grandchildren, Carl loved nothing more than his family being together. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Miriam Head. He is survived by his wife, Gail; his three children, Emily (Scott), Trey (Jessica), and Brian; his sister, Cindy (Neil), and his two brothers, Tommy (Terri) and Tim (Jenn); and his six grandchildren, whom he loved very much. “Pop” also had a special love for his grandog, Pippa. The funeral will be Friday, February 26, 2021 at 11:00am, with visitation beforehand at 9:30am. Both will be held at Eastmont Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

I can never think of Carl Jr. without remembering how his mom called him ‘carljr’ as though it was one word. Such beautiful memories of those gone too soon. Rest in peace my friend.

Earl and I are so sorry to hear of the death of Carl Jr. I feel like I have know him and his family just about all of my life. We met at Second Baptist Church when I was about 6 years old. His sister, Cindy and I were friends and I just remember us doing things together at Church and sometime at his house when Cindy and I were visiting and playing. I know he will be missed by everyone. Just cherish the memories.

I struggle to find the words to express what a blessing it has been to know Carl Head for the past twenty-one years as he faithfully served his Lord and Savior as well as every person who walked through the doors of Lakeview Baptist Church. His standard line of "Well, Amen" will live on in so many hearts just as the realization that there have been few who could bring glory to God so beautifully as Carl could when he sang "Midnight Cry." His boundless love for his parents, wife, children and grandchildren was demonstrated in the numerous stories he shared of their adventures through life. I shall miss hearing those stories told as only he could. It is with deep sorrow to so many that the time came for Carl to leave us for his home in Heaven but I rejoice at the realization that some day I will get to sit by my Brother Carl again and sing of "Sweet Beulah Land." To the promise that God will surround both of Carl's families, the Heads and Lakeview Baptist Church, with the peace and comfort only He can provide, I simply offer up to My Lord, "Well, Amen."

I served with Carl for several years as part of the worship ministry at Lakeview Baptist Church, watched his children grow up and now serve with his son Trey in the same capacity at Morningview. Carl was a shining example of Christ to all those around him. He will be greatly missed, but we know he is in the presence of our Lord and Savior now. Carl touched many people for the Lord, he finished the race well.

Your family, loved ones, siblings, and cousins will all be praying for you during your greatest loss during this time. I know, without a doubt, that “Bubba”, as I knew him, was a priceless soul that left this earth too soon. My prayers to you will always be “His Perfect Will in everything you need and do”. Love always,
Jeanmarie (aka “Jip”)

Carl was the "little" brother of my BFF, Cindy Head Brown, from the time we were little kids at old Second Baptist Church. He was rather small for his age as a child, and was nicknamed " little Bubba." He was always so kind and gentle, and maintained that wonderful trait into adulthood. Because he was only a few years younger than Cindy and me, we were all in the same youth group at church. For many years we all grew in our faith in Christ through the lives of our own parents, and through our spiritual parents at church. As the three of us married, and completed college, each couple went into full-time ministry along with our spouses. We ended up completing our Masters' Degrees at Southwestern Baptist Seminary during the same years. Again, we parted for ministry callings. During that time we still considered each other family, and came together several times to participate our old Church's Homecoming Celebrations over the years. My husband, Danny, and I will always remember Carl for his gentle, loving nature, his beautiful voice in praising God, and his love of and concern for winning others to Christ. Rest in the Lord, Brother Carl. The heartbreak we feel on earth in missing you cannot compare with our jubilation of reuniting with you in Heaven at our Jesus' feet. Cindy Huie McDonald
