Carolyn Cox Duck, 75, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Thursday, April 14, 2021. She was born on January 27, 1946, to Ross Henry Cox and Sara McLendon Cox in Georgia. Mrs. Duck was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Albert Duck and her parents.
She is survived by her children, Craig (Cheryl) Davis, Karen (John Bass) Davis and Amy (Michael) Yates; her grandchildren, Robert Boothe, Matthew Boothe, Makenzie Carolyn Davis, Aeron Yates, Adison Yates and Helena Yates; and her sisters, Janice (Phil) Thurlow, Sylvia (Jerry) Hancock, and Cynthia Salter.
Carolyn loved working with her hands, was an avid gardener, an accomplished baker, and excellent cook. She won numerous awards at the fair for her canning and baking. She loved her family and her pets and enjoyed spending time with them. In her early thirties, after having had success as a small business owner, she pursued her dream of becoming a nurse, earned her degree and then worked for the State of Alabama Health Department for 26 years until her retirement in 2014. She held various roles and supervisory positions and traveled throughout the state in the regulatory inspections department.
A visitation is set for Sunday, April 18, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Leak Memory Chapel with a graveside service to follow in Greenwood Cemetery at 2:00 pm. Mark Nelson officiating. Pallbearers will be Johnny Lambert, Brent Lambert, Brian Lambert, Michael Yates, John Bass, and Bill Botts.
