Carolyn Lewis Olive, 89, passed away peacefully on May 9 at John Knox Manor Nursing Home in Montgomery, AL. A longtime resident of the Snowdoun Community, she is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Norman Olive; her parents Onie and Fermon Lewis of Ramer, AL; and her beloved granddaughter, Laura Brown of Grady, AL. She is survived by a daughter, Cathy (Mike) Brown of Grady, AL, and a son, Craig (Carleen) Olive of Gainesville, FL. She also is survived by grandchildren, Elizabeth Brown Merritt, Zachariah Olive, Moriah (Mitchell) Rice, Micaiah Olive and Josiah Olive; a great-grandson, Ben Merritt; a sister, Jackie Morris of Nashville, TN; and a brother, Larry (Brenda) Lewis of Selma, AL.
A dedicated community member and volunteer, Carolyn served as President of the Snowdoun Women's Club, Hooper Academy Volunteer and Snowdoun Water Board President. She was an active member of Snowdoun Baptist Church for many years and also taught Sunday School at Sampey Memorial Baptist Church in Ramer, AL. For more than two decades, she worked at Union Bank & Trust Company in Montgomery, AL where she served as an officer. She also helped her husband operate his Cloverland IGA grocery store in Montgomery, AL.
Carolyn never met a stranger and was beloved by all who were blessed to know her. She loved country music, the beach, autumn leaves, statement jewelry, home decor and Auburn football. She adored holiday gatherings and always was the "hostess with the mostest." She was not afraid to speak her mind and lend unsolicited, but oftentimes much-needed, advice. She was a big personality with a broad smile that lit up every room she entered. It is safe to say she left her corner of the world a brighter place.
